A permanent position exists within the Communications Department for a Corporate Writer (p-band) at the IDC Head office Sandton branch, reporting to the Head of Corporate Communications
Key functions of the position include:
* Writing and editing of content for brochures, opinion pieces, press releases, articles, etc
* Managing production of publications including annual reports, booklets, newsletters and other publications
* Gaining insight into media?s appetite for IDC news and identifying potential IDC stories
* Ability to lobby media and sell relevant news angles
* Extensive South African media contacts, particularly in business media
* Broad understanding of financial services or DFI environment
* Development of effective media relations strategies
* Advanced knowledge of SA media landscape including social media
* Ability to build and maintain relationships with the media for the benefit of the IDC
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Candidates must have a relevant B Degree / Diploma in Communication, Marketing, Public Relations or journalism
EXPERIENCE:
* At least 4 years experience in reputable newsroom or senior media relations role
* Proven experience as a writer/ editor of corporate/publicity materials
* Proven track record in media relations
* Candidates must be Computer literate in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
* Drivers licence is a must
* Willingness to travel
