The Web Editorial Director is responsible for managing all content developed for The Network’s news and information website, ensuring it meets the highest standards of journalistic principles and ethics.
Duties
* Manage and lead the web editorial team providing content for The Network’s news and information website and other social media platforms.
* Ensure that all content is in conformity with The Network’s Journalistic Code of Ethics.
* Direct the 24/hour web staff to ensure that news scripts, features, and other materials are timely and of the highest professional standards.
* Maintain quality control of all material published on the website.
* Exercise professional news judgment and create material that is compelling, timely and mission-driven.
* Ensure that staff complies with all production standards and external news services are used appropriately and in compliance with Fair Use standards
* Communicate effectively across The Network at all levels.
Required
* Bachelors Degree in journalism or broadcast journalism or related field
* 7 to 10+ years of professional experience in news writing and editing
* 3+ years of management experience
* Strong news judgment and organizational skills
* Experience working in a 24x7 newsroom environment preferred
* Experience managing a news-oriented website preferred
* Fluency in both Arabic and English
* Ability to prioritize and make quick decisions
* Ability to write clear and concise news stories
* Good creative and editorial judgment.
* Proficient with internet, database and computer assisted reporting techniques
* Able to work effectively with all levels of Network management and staff in a professional manner
Location: Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia area - USA
Compensation: $85,000 to $115,000 with exceptional benefits and relocation
