My Mind Words Paper + writing teaching jobs

Job Opening: Writer for Cognician (South Africa)

Looking for young, aspirant writers to adapt books, blog posts and other material into content for the system.

Does this sound like you?

You're a voracious reader. You love reading books, blog posts, web sites, magazines. If you could get paid for reading, you'd be the happiest person in the world. People would probably describe you as a listener, rather than a talker. Your friends like to talk to you because you listen and you ask questions that help them to come to terms with the challenges in their lives. You're also a good writer.

If you were working for us, here is how you might describe what you did last week.

Monday

• Began reading a 128-page book about Sun Tzu's Art of War (to adapt later in the week).
• Researched how to write a LinkedIn recommendation by finding blog posts on this subject.
• Identified the 15 to 20 key ideas common among all these blog posts, and organised them into clusters.
• Adapted the key ideas into thought-provoking questions which can help people to write a LinkedIn recommendation for a colleague.
• Wrote examples to demonstrate best practices for writing a LinkedIn recommendation.
• Wrote a description of my LinkedIn recommendation process, describing the benefits to the user.

Tuesday

• Corrected my work from Monday, based on feedback from team leaders.
• Continued reading the book on Sun Tzu's Art of War.
• Researched brainstorming techniques by finding websites, blog posts and research papers on the subject.
• Identified the 15 to 20 key ideas common among all these sources, and organised them into clusters.
• Adapted the key ideas into thought-provoking questions which can help people to brainstorm more effectively.
• Wrote examples to demonstrate great responses to my thought-provoking brainstorming questions.
• Wrote a description of my brainstorming process, describing the benefits to the user.

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday

• Corrected my work from Tuesday, based on feedback from team leaders.
• Completed the book on Sun Tzu's Art of War.
• Identified ±60 key ideas from this book and organised them into clusters.
• Adapted the key ideas into thought-provoking questions which can help people to apply Sun Tzu's ideas to their own work challenges, personal relationships, goals, etc.
• Wrote a description of my adaptation of the book, describing the benefits to the user.

Here are some other things you might do in a week

• Write the content for a presentation and brochure on some of the other work you've done.
• Propose new ideas for content that could be developed.
• Write introductory emails to new publishers or authors whose work we might want to adapt.
• Follow up with users who are using our content.
• Comment on blogs whose content is relevant to our platform.
• Comment on our Facebook page.
• Tweet ideas that are relevant to our customers.
• Write a blog post for our blog.
• Join meetings with clients to get involved in assessing their content development needs.
• Interview individuals to capture their expertise, which can then become the basis of new content.

Experience is not as important to us as having the right attitude. You're a lifelong learner with an open mind and a commitment to self-improvement. You're a glass-half-full type of person. You're excited by new and unfamiliar things. Most of all you like to ask questions.

If this job sounds like something you'd love to do every day, we want to hear from you.
