MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
The Daily Dispatch is looking for a highly experienced, driven, dynamic and prolific journalist to join our editorial team in East London as chief reporter. The person appointed will be expected to:
• Report and write extensively on a wide range of topics
• Add depth and analysis to the Dispatch coverage of the Eastern Cape
• Work constructively within the existing reporting team
• Encourage fresh story and feature ideas
Short listed candidates may be asked to complete a writing and news reporting exercise

REQUIREMENTS
• Journalism degree or equivalent qualification.
• At least 10 years of reporting experience.
• Knowledge of national and Eastern Cape political issues.
• Established network of political and other contacts.
• Demonstrable reporting and interviewing skills.
• Proficiency in news and feature writing.
• Ability to generate exclusive news stories and analysis.
• Thorough knowledge of journalistic ethics.
• Good general knowledge
• Ability and willingness to mentor colleagues.
• A valid driver's license.
PERSONAL SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES
• Able to work independently or within a team.
• Willingness to work irregular hours.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
