A news editor is wanted for Egypt-based Bikyamasr.com. The job will have hours during the daytime Sunday through Friday with Saturday off. The news editor will be responsible for Bikyamasr.com's daily Egypt coverage, to work with the Editor-in-chief to develop ideas and editorial direction and to write news briefs on breaking news. This is a demanding position with a lot of potential expansion as Bikyamasr.com moves forward.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least one year editorial experience or 2 years reporting/newswriting
- Must be fast-paced and on your feet as news comes in
- Must have a handle on social media including Twitter
- A willingness to put in the hours to get us where we need to be
DUTIES:
- Edit copy from freelancers/writers as it comes in
- Post articles online throughout your time online
- Write news articles with original reporting
- Write one opinion article weekly
- Write one feature weekly
