New Media is looking for an exceptional digital editor who is passionate about content marketing, digital platforms and Mobile. Your challenge: to help create the most compelling digital platform for an iconic brand – Vodacom. You understand how content influences behaviour, creates communities and makes a difference. We're looking for someone who knows the role intelligent content plays in the crowded digital world.
DUTIES
- Together with the editor-in-chief and content director, to generate and collate quality multimedia material for a new Vodacom content platform that includes RSS feeds, video and audio segments as well as social media channels like Facebook and Twitter;
- Driving new ideas for direction, content and design;
- Liaising closely with the client – matching their objectives with the needs and requirements of users;
- Conceptualising, writing, subbing and proofreading of articles and formatting them to suit several digital channels;
- Basic video and audio editing duties;
- Ongoing maintenance of the content platform - updating content, basic layout and design as well as uploading pages;
- Practical implementation of ideas for potential projects, online marketing material, competitions, user profiling and research;
- Implementing and managing campaigns, deals and competitions;
- Reporting and interpretation of campaigns, competitions and monthly statistics;
- Monitoring and moderating social channels;
- Managing production processes, budgets and deadlines;
- Keeping up-to-date with industry news and trends.
REQUIREMENTS:
- An appropriate tertiary qualification
- At least 3 – 5 years experience in a similar role.
- Strong journalistic skills: writing, editing and proofreading
- Excellent computer skills: Windows, MS Office, MS Outlook
- Design skills: basic Photoshop proficiency
- Thorough knowledge of the Internet, mobile, facebook and twitter etc
- Multi-media skills (video/audio capturing and editing) would be an advantage
- Good written communication and organisational skills
- Creative brainstorming and strategic abilities
