Highbury Safika Media (Pty) Ltd is seeking to appoint a Junior Rugby Writer on its dynamic sports magazine department, who will report directly to the Sports Editor. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
• Generate article/design ideas
• Assist in developing the synopsis
• Provide well researched, balanced articles
• Maintain a strong emphasis on checking facts
• Develop sources and information networks in a professional manner
• Keep abreast of current affairs and trends
• Ensure all deadlines are kept
• Ensure copy fulfills brief
• Maintaining the high editorial standard of the magazines
• Liaise fully with copy editing department over copy usage
REQUIREMENTS:
• A love of the English language (and all its idiosyncrasies)
• A proficient writer and a stickler for detail
• The ability to work under pressure and a willingness to work overtime when necessary
• A proactive and motivated self-starter with a strong sense of responsibility
• Experience in a publishing environment and knowledge of InCopy/InDesign and sports an advantage
