Job responsibilities of this position include:
- Overseeing the subbing desk team
- Allocating stories to various sub editors and make sure stories are subbed as per the agreed standards and quality
- Check and sub editorial copy as allocated by the Managing Editor for accuracy, contents, taste, house style and grammar
- To make the copy clear, correct, concise, complete, and consistent to meet the standards set by the Guardian Ltd.
Qualification and experience requirement
- The applicant for this position must have the following qualifications
- He or She should be a holder of University degree in English with strong command in Grammar and Literature
- Must have a postgraduate Diploma or Masters in Journalism
- Must have experience of about five years in a similar position or have worked as a sub editor for about five years in a reputable English newspaper.
- Should be between 40 and 55 years
- Must be skilled in using computer
