REPORTING TO: Senior FP Editor - Yahoo! Maktoob Arabic
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Working with the editorial team on updating Yahoo! Maktoob Arabic front page with fresh, compelling and relevant content
- Maintaining events diary and planning and executing event programming in consultation with producers and editors
- Crafting appealing headlines and teaser copy, choosing and preparing appropriate imagery
- Understanding the Yahoo! audience, and its interests, and feeding these back into product plans and tactics
- Providing editorial support where required, particularly on ancillary or support service pages and instructional content
- Contributing ideas to the content and product development process
REQUIREMENTS:
- A solid experience in basic principles of writing for the Web and editing experience in a dynamic online Arabic editorial environment (2 years of experience)
- An understanding of editorial best practices and priorities
- A keen interest in news, entertainment and popular culture in general
- Demonstrable headline writing, image selection and content packaging skills
- University degree or equivalent required
- Language skills: Excellent command of Arabic (written and spoken) - Mother tongue
- Strong Communication skills and the ability to communicate in English verbally and in writing.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Language skills: Fluent Arabic (written and spoken)
- Very good knowledge of modern standard Arabic grammar
- Experience in editing, re-writing in an Arabic media production environment.
- English highly competent (written and spoken)
- A solid grounding in basic principles of writing for the Web and editing experience in a dynamic online editorial environment (3 years of experience)
- A thorough understanding of editorial best practices and priorities
- A keen understanding of news, business, entertainment and popular culture
- Demonstrable headline writing, image selection and content packaging skills
- Experience with online publishing tools
- University degree or equivalent required
