ZANEWS, South Africa's satirical puppet web+tv show, is looking for a young and enthusiastic candidate with strong editing and internet video skills. The successful candidate will be tasked with editing and uploading video content for internet/broadband/tv use via all ZANEWS platforms. The ideal candidate needs to have knowledge and experience of editing software (specifically Final Cut Pro), and must be a true team player - and prepared to work flexible hours.
The ZA NEWS offline editor, working closely with the Director, AD and on-line editor, is in charge of the following:
- Logging of footage
- Editing according to the ZANEWS formats
- Dynamic and creative editing decision making
- Good sense of humour and story telling skills (Comedic timing, story editing)
- Sound effects and music track
- Encoding of video for internet
- Uploading and publishing to web
- Testing and verification of finished product
- Archiving and maintenance of video materials on media server
Requirements
- Needs to be proficient with Final Cut Pro
- Proficiency in After Effects, CS4/5 and Pro tools 8 an advantage
- Full Apple Mac computer literacy
- Writing skills (for online summaries, straps, summaries and tags)
- Ability to work fast and under pressure
- The position offered is junior-mid level and on a contract basis
- AA candidates will be attended to first
- Candidates must be prepared to work flexible hours, including nights
- Own transport or living in Cape Town CBD a must
