We are seeking a confident and talented journalist to join a team of feature writers, to write property and home-related articles for established luxury home and décor magazine, SA Home Owner. The individual must be passionate about writing and the property and media industries. This position reports directly to the managing editor.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Researching, compiling and writing property articles, editorial features, advertorials, and other content as required, with associated liaison and administration internally and with current and potential clients.
• Working closely with other units in the division to ensure high quality, saleable editorial content for magazine and website.
• Attend and assist with photoshoots relevant to articles.
• Sourcing new product information, through consistent research via internet, PR and client liaison, press releases, competitor research, keeping abreast with international trends, etc
• Representing the brand at functions or brand-promotional shows as required, and be a brand ambassador at all points of contact.
• Assisting in magazine-related functions and events (e.g. website, marketing, décor shows, etc).
• Innovating and developing concepts to grow the magazine.
REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must meet the following requirements in order to be considered for this position:
• Tertiary qualification in journalism or related field
• At least one year experience as a journalist, with a marked interest in the property and home design and décor fields
• Some experience in property-related writing is an advantage
• Some knowledge of online writing and website management a plus
• Computer literate with excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.
