Job description
Media24 Weekly Magazines has a vacancy in Johannesburg for a dynamic and experienced editor to lead Heat magazine. The editor we seek must have a wide knowledge of and passion for the entertainment world and the celebrities who people it. The candidate will be based in Johannesburg and will report to the General Manager of Media24 Weekly Magazines.
In addition the ideal candidate should have:
- At least five years' experience as a writer/reporter for newspapers/magazines and can show a portfolio of original published writing, preferably with a celebrity/showbusiness focus
- A sound knowledge of the target market and the ability to translate this knowledge into well-presented, meaningful content to ensure that circulation targets are met
- Manage the editorial budgeting and expenditure process.
- The ability to effectively manage people and processes
- Ability to remain focused under weekly pressure
- Strong leadership qualities and excellent management and conflict-resolution skills
- Be appropriately computer-literate
