Bloomberg News is seeking company news reporters to join our Johannesburg office to cover the consumer, health, industrial, construction and real estate industries in Africa's biggest economy. The successful candidates will cover some of the country's largest companies and their expansion plans across the African continent. They will be expected to break news on acquisitions, expansions, labor disputes and contracts. As part of a wider group of companies teams, the candidates will be expected to collaborate with his or her colleagues on cross-border analysis stories. Candidates must be capable of building a network of sources, and the reporter must display an understanding of economics, markets and corporate action.
Responsibilities include prioritizing your events and diary, attending press briefings and evening events, monitoring other media, pitching story ideas and writing news summaries.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Journalism experience and experience covering corporate news is preferred.
- Experience of working in a real-time news environment is desirable.
- Ability to write quickly and concisely under deadline pressure
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is desirable.
- Fluency in English is essential.
