Tunza is the children and youth program of the United Nations Environment Programme.
The word “Tunza” means “to treat with care or affection” in Kiswahili (a sub-regional language of Eastern Africa). The overall Tunza Concept is built around this theme. It is an initiative that is meant to develop activities in the areas of capacity building, environmental awareness, and information exchange, with a vision to foster a generation of environmentally conscious citizens, capable of positive action.
Join Tunza's monthly 100-word essay competition in celebration of the Earth Day on April 22. The theme is My plan for the Earth Day and the competition will run from 5th April to 29th April. Please write your own plan or campaign to commemorate the Earth Day. You can upload JPEG, PDF or PPT files if you want. The name of the attachment must be written in English. Gifts for the winners include the book Silent Spring by Rachel Carson and eco-stationery sets.
