Deadline: 15 June 2012
The Vermont Studio Center holds three annual fellowship deadlines, with new juries and different awards each time. Fellowships listed below are for 4-week residencies at VSC.
VSC DIVERSITY INITIATIVE FELLOWSHIPS
At this deadline, three awards are available to talented minority artists and writers from the United States. These awards, supported by the Educational Foundation of America, include a travel stipend.
To be considered for these awards, please be sure to complete the cultural background portion of the VSC application.
ZOLAND POETRY TRANSLATION FELLOWSHIP:
One award for an outstanding translator of contemporary international poetry, supported by Zoland Poetry.
Applicants must submit 3 copies of the original poems/translations along with a description of English-language rights, author bio, and translator CV.
DISPLACED ARTISTS FELLOWSHIPS
At this deadline, two fellowships are available through VSC's Fund for Displaced Artists. One award is for a displaced visual artist from Japan who was affected by the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami and one award is offered to a Vermont visual artist or writer displaced by Tropical Storm Irene in 2011. Awards include a travel and materials stipend.
These fellowships are specifically intended for recently displaced artists. One fellowship is for a visual artist from Japan who was affected by the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami and the second fellowship is for Vermont visual artist/writer displaced by Tropical Storm Irene in 2011. Applicants should submit a letter of interest directly or sent on their behalf by a nominator, which describes how a residency would be important at this time (1 page max.). In addition, we request the names and contact information for two persons of reference, one of whom could be the person nominating, who could speak about the applicants creative work and current circumstances. Applicants who have lost their work documentation are welcome to submit a letter of reference.
APPLY
Residencies at the Vermont Studio Center are offered based on a review of the portfolio or manuscript submitted by each applicant. While application for residency may be submitted at any time, applicants who wish to be considered for a fellowship must submit their application by one of the three annual fellowship deadlines. Fellowship applications are reviewed by a revolving jury of VSC visiting artists and writers and are based on merit as seen by the jury. The Vermont Studio Center welcomes applicants representing the full rage of aesthetic perspectives and cultural backgrounds.
