An opportunity exists for a freelance (min six week contract) Online Fashion Editor for one South Africa's leading fashion e-retailers.

Job Outputs

• Online fashion writing. At least three new articles and two brand interviews each week.
• Online look development- at least two looks per week.
• Media relations in conjunction with PR agency/Marketing Manager.
• Will be required to work with all business partners to develop bespoke content for both web (site) and social media channels.
• Ability to present internal and external fashion look education.
• Attend forums, speaking engagements and meetings as a brand representative when required.

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in journalism/copywriting/fashion design/PR and or SEO writing for the web a mandatory.
• A background in fashion/lifestyle writing in South Africa and/or internationally and/or the owner of a local fashion blog with proof of success.
• Must have written at a senior writer or editor level, in fashion or lifestyle if even on a freelance basis.
• Must have a strong network of connections to both male and female fashion/lifestyle brands in South Africa.
• Must have a strong personal sense of style.
• Writing and speaking both English and Afrikaans would be an advantage but not a pre-requisite. English as a business language.
• Please submit either a blog link or single writing sample with all CVs.
• At least 2 contactable references.

Personal Skills/Attributes

• Must be highly organized, with an attention to detail and sound, demonstrable, forward planning behaviour.
• Must have a clean, concise and web-friendly style, free of grammatical errors.
• Must be comfortable handling inquires and speaking with the media (once briefed).
• Candidates will be expected to present a portfolio of current trends within a specific business question as part of the interview process, as well as examples of their work/writing.
• Must be able to hold their own at senior management meetings .
• Must be able to deliver under pressure and occasionally work later hours in a flexible work-life balance environment.
• An existing network of trend forecasters, theorists, designers and editorial informants would be an advantage.
