Media24's women's interest division has a vacancy in Cape Town for a highly experienced, self-motivated features editor for SHAPE magazine. The candidate must have a wide knowledge of and passion for the South African women's magazine market and an understanding of, and interest in, issues relating to health, fitness, self-development, nutrition and better living. The candidate will, in consultation with the editor, be responsible for the overall editorial content of this multi award-winning publication. Preference will be given to a candidate with experience of working on an international brand, and who understands the process of adapting content to a local audience.
Requirements
• A degree in journalism or similar qualification.
• At least five years' experience in editing and writing on magazines.
• Have excellent knowledge of and a love for the English language.
• Be able to motivate and guide writers.
• Ability to work as part of a small editorial team and produce quality copy to tight deadlines.
• Be self-motivated.
• Have excellent organisational skills.
• Handle deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
• Be prepared to represent brand, often after hours.
• A sound knowledge of various computer software packages. (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer)
The features editor will report to the editor and will receive a competitive remuneration package that will include full Media24 benefits.
