RamsayMedia Custom Publishing is pleased to present an exciting contract opportunity (inclusive of benefits). The company is looking for a bright, motivated and highly organised Deputy Editor with a keen interest in the automotive industry for its new automotive title, Automobil, published on behalf of the RMI (Retail Motor Industry).

Reporting to the Group Editor - Custom Publishing, and based in Sandton, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the brand's various social media platforms and websites, producing online and print copy, developing relationships with individuals in the RMI and automotive industry and attending RMI events as requested.

The Deputy Editor will primarily be responsible for:

• Liaising with the directors of the RMI to gather news content for the magazine and website
• Managing and producing content for the brand's website and social media platforms
• Writing online and print articles as and when required
• Supporting the adsales team by helping to conceptualise and write copy for advertorials, special supplements, inserts and other brand extensions
• Assisting the editor with feature planning
• Reporting on and photographing the client at RMI and industry events
• Writing occasional press releases
• Taking photographs and video footage for use across all the platforms

The successful candidate will need to have the following:

• Three - five years solid practical experience, preferably gained in either a news journalism role or as a writer in an automotive or B2B publishing environment
• News desk/newspaper training/work experience advantageous
• A keen interest and flair for digital media platforms
• Must be familiar with production and page management requirements
• Investigative ability - able to structure questions and pose these in the appropriate manner to gather necessary information
• Excellent writing skills (and a portfolio of work to prove it)
• Excellent communication skills
• Must be able to meet deadlines
• Must have some photographic ability
• A valid driver's license and own transport is essential
• A willingness to work unusual hours and attend events after hours where necessary
• Availability to travel locally when required
