Department Overview:
The Audience Team focus is to ensure the delivery of brilliant daily experiences. Our leitmotif is “The right thing, on the right place, at the right time”. The team will support the need for localization and production tasks that are critical for the right product experience. The team is also responsible for defining the editorial voice and ensuring that it is performed in all markets.
The Senior Lifestyle Editor is responsible for delivering the best possible day to day experience to our users regarding specific channel or topic in the region.
Responsibilities:
* Take editorial responsibility for our leading women and lifestyle platform(s) as well as other general information platforms such as the Islam channel
* Create user experiences which encourage repeat use and adoption
* Provide and edit articles and content relevant for our demographic. Collate, edit or write material for publication
* Meet targets and deliver on daily traffic performance indicators
* Work closely with internal sales and marketing teams as well as external content partners
* Deliver on the strategies and editorial policies in specific areas
* Ensure content and feature freshness and relevancy on a daily
* Account manage content partners to ensure that content is high quality and relevant. Check content constantly and ensure partners are working to Yahoo! criteria
* Identify new content sources and support product management and business development on content acquisition
* Work closely with the managing editor to best serve local segments
* Maintain events diary and planning and executing events programming in consultation with producers and editors within the region.
* Meet targets and deliver on daily traffic performance indicators
* Ensure content and feature freshness and relevancy
* Reporting on the performance of the content areas and delivering to targets.
* Give feedback on aggregated, acquired and commissioned content.
* Take the lead on identifying best content sources and contributors and support content acquisition in co-operation with the managing editor and the business development team.
Requirements:
* Minimum 7 year’s experience as a journalist and editor working on a woman’s focused title or web site
* Passion for fashion, culture, food, style, entertainment and celebrity. Good understanding of news, entertainment and popular culture in general
* Solid knowledge of the principles of writing for the web and editing experience in a dynamic online editorial environment
* University degree or equivalent required
* Thorough understanding of editorial best practices and priorities
* Demonstrable headline writing, image selection and content packaging skills
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Presentation skills and strong deadline management
* Great team player and relationship-builder
* Language skills: Arabic fluent (written and spoken) and good knowledge of Arabic grammar
* English highly competent
* Flexible to work in various areas and adaptable to fit a constantly moving industry
* Keyboard and computer skills
